About Bree
About me
I'm a fourth-year medical student at the University of Otago, originally from Hawke's Bay. My younger sister is currently in Year 13, so I know firsthand how confusing and daunting the university application process can feel. I've been helping guide her through it and wanted to do the same for others who might not have someone to talk to about it all.
My uni experience
The hardest part of studying medicine is the sheer volume of content. That said, the day-to-day timetable is very manageable and you can absolutely maintain a good work-life balance while studying medicine. I was in Arana in my first year at Otago. It's a great hall with a wide range of people from all over the country, a good mix of HSFY students alongside people studying all kinds of other degrees. Otago has a reputation for being a party university, but I genuinely believe it's just what you make it. I love socialising and going out with friends, but I also know when it's time to lock in. At the end of the day, it's up to you to create a social environment that suits you and your interests.
Hobbies
Club netball, the UniPol gym, trying different cafes and restaurants around Dunedin, and exploring the walkways around the city.
