Hayley Boyce

About me

Hi, I'm Hayley! I'm studying Psychology and Commerce at UC and moved from Auckland to Christchurch to study, so I understand how exciting and overwhelming big transitions can be. I've always enjoyed helping people feel more confident in themselves and their decisions. I know Year 13 can be a lot, and I would have loved having someone to chat to when I was in your shoes. I'm here to answer your questions, share my experiences, and help make whatever comes next feel a little less daunting.

My uni experience

Psychology and Commerce keeps me busy, but it's definitely manageable if you stay organised. The biggest surprise for me was how much independent learning there is compared to high school. Time management makes a huge difference. I lived in Rochester and Rutherford Hall when I first moved from Auckland to Christchurch. It was a really good way to settle into uni life and meet people quickly. There's a strong social side, and while it can be a big adjustment at first, it definitely helps with the transition. University is really what you make of it. I've met some amazing people through my hall, classes, and getting involved in volunteering and other opportunities. It takes a bit of putting yourself out there at first, but once you do, it becomes much easier to find your people and balance social life with study.

Hobbies

Catching up with friends, going for walks or a gym session, and having downtime when things get busy. I've also been involved in volunteering, which I really enjoy because I like being around people and helping where I can.
