Megan Woodbridge

About me

My name is Megan Woodbridge. I was born in the UK but migrated to Nelson when I was five and then moved to Christchurch for university in 2022. After studying for four years I believe I have solid advice on just about every aspect of university. The one thing I'd like Year 13s to know about me is that even though I've always known what I wanted to study, I often struggled to balance my studies with a social life.

My uni experience

My degree is quite demanding but also very rewarding. There's a lot of research and reading involved, but I really enjoy learning new things and engaging with like-minded people. I was in Kirkwood Avenue Hall in first year. I found it overwhelming at times, but I made really good friends and it was a lot of fun. I've lived with those friends ever since. My hall organised events that I really enjoyed and that helped me get to know people around me. For some people, balancing social life and study is really tricky, and I struggled with this in my first couple of years. Over time, as you settle into university and studying, it becomes easier to have a better social life while still maintaining a high level of study.

Hobbies

Going for hikes, doing yoga, hanging out with friends (movie nights and that sort of thing), doing crafts, and travelling. I've found that keeping up with these hobbies regularly is what helps me relax and recharge outside of uni.
