About Mila
About me
I'm Mila, in my third year at the University of Otago, studying Psychology and Computer Science. I'm keen to chat, share my advice, and help sort out any questions or worries you might have about uni. I know I had plenty! I'm knowledgeable about courses, flatting, study tips, extracurriculars, and good places to eat.
My uni experience
About 21 contact hours per week, which is pretty high. I have a lot of labs, some tutorials, and plenty of lectures. There have been surprises along the way with what's covered in labs and what to actually look for in lectures. I went to Carrington College and stayed in Mahuru House, which is a smaller building of about 15 people on the college. It was a pretty studious hall but still had plenty of parties on every week. The food was alright but definitely had room for improvement! The hot drinks machine and 24/7 toast definitely carried me through. First year was crazy of course. Loads of pint nights, clubbing, and social events. Second year was a lot more chilled: parties move to flat ones and people go out less. Third year is 21st season, so it's been hectic in the best way! Finding a balance between social and study is absolutely key. Find what works for you. (And you are allowed to just go to pres!)
Hobbies
Arts and crafts, especially anything with yarn! Going to the gym, getting into running, trying new food places, and revisiting favourites. I've been involved in clubs like Amnesty and Comp Girls Otago.
