About Poppy
About me
Hey, I'm Poppy! I'm from Port Charles in the Coromandel and study at the University of Otago. In my spare time I love anything fitness-related, spending time outdoors, and hanging out with friends. When I was in Year 13, I was so overwhelmed trying to figure out a career path and would have loved having someone to reach out to. I'd love to be that person for you! Neuroscience has a pretty big workload with a lot of lectures, labs, and content to keep on top of. It can feel full-on at times, but if you stay organised and chip away at the work each week, it's much less overwhelming than trying to catch up later. I stayed at 192 Castle College and had a really great experience. The rooms were awesome, and while it's quite a small hall, there were still plenty of events to get involved in. The food was pretty average (but that's hall food for you!). Living with your friends and having that level of freedom is such a fun experience, make the most of it. The social side of uni has been one of my favourite parts. I'm involved in rowing, and outside of that I spend a lot of time going to gigs, pint nights, cafes, and the gym with friends. Balancing everything can get tricky around exams, but if you stay organised it's absolutely possible to have a great social life and do well academically at the same time.
My uni experience
Rowing, the gym, running, cooking, reading, travelling, going to gigs, and anything health and fitness related.
