About Sophie
About me
I'm 26 and from Taranaki. I've studied in Wellington, Taranaki, and Christchurch over seven years at a variety of different tertiary institutions. I'm predominantly an artist with an interest in the humanities, and now I'm on my journey to becoming a secondary school teacher! I have a passion for education and enjoy working with young people to uncover their strengths and purpose.
My uni experience
Day to day, my degree has been somewhat demanding. If you chip away at it slowly and dedicate a small amount of time each day, it won't get on top of you. Even when it inevitably builds up at the last minute, the occasional all-nighter isn't the end of the world. I was at Joan Stevens Hall in Wellington (Victoria University) in my first year. I really enjoyed my time there! The first few weeks can be a tough adjustment, but you'll find people from vastly different backgrounds who'll become some of your closest friends. The food is mostly good, the showers are mostly clean, and the late-night card games are always fun! Make sure to dedicate your weekdays to getting your uni work done. That gives you more time in the evenings and weekends for socialising, which is important for keeping you sane and healthy.
Hobbies
I love being creative in any form, whether it's cooking, crocheting, drawing, photography, or printmaking. I also do tattoos in my spare time and enjoy hanging out with my chunky ginger cat!
